CITYNEWS WEBSITE

I was responsible for the redesign of the CityNews Edmonton, Winnipeg, Calgary, Vancouver, and Montreal websites in an effort to create CityNews websites in multiple cities throughout Canada. CityNews had previously only been offered in Toronto, but this project allowed other markets to tell their story with a brand new website. Eventually, the goal is for the Toronto website to inherit this new and improved template as well.

As the lead designer on this project, my goal was simple: Make this website ‘focused’, easy-to-use, and should keep users engaged with all the video content available on this website. Although structurally this is a small website, it needs to feel as though there is a breadth of content available. Users need to be always be ‘in the know’ with what’s happening in news right now. Let’s be honest, when it comes to news, what happened 3 and a 1/2 months ago isn’t as important as what’s happened in the last few days.
